I'm new to the blogoshere; btw, i enjoy reading your blog so i've bookmarked it (i'm learning pretty quickly for a grandmother!!). I've just finished my first book, and i feel i need this outlet for my writing. I'm a fairly new christian, and writing about this Jesus whom i'm madly in love with is as natural as breathing out and breathing so alot of my thoughts revolve around Him. Along with cooking, my writing is a wonderful creative exercise which i practice as often as i can.

Thanks for all the input! My answer to my husband was similar to almost all of yours. I told him it was several reasons:
1) Because I process while writing.
2) Because writing helps me succinctly define what I'm trying to convey. Since I tend to process out loud, I can wander all over the map during a conversation. Writing helps me get to my point a little faster (and more clearly).
3) Because I like getting my thoughts "out there." The feedback and validation are helpful.
4) Because I hope that if I have learned anything I can share or can provoke others to think about something in a new way, then blogging allows me to communicate that and maybe helps someone.

To me, blogging is so much more than journaling. It's a way to be heard. Not that I want to be heard all of the time, but it makes me feel like if I wanted to be, I could be. And those listening aren't limited to my geography or the people I hang out with - it's people I don't know, I may know, it's global. There's something strangely appealing to that.
Ok, so don't go reading my blog because you will find a whole bunch of nothin'. Maybe the part that appeals to me - being heard - is exactly what prevents me from doing it as often as I want to.

Well I want to journal, but find that if I do it with pen in hand it doesn't get done.
Also, some of my ramblings are about my grandchildren and I want them to be able to see thoughts I had about them in the future when I am gone.
Also, when you blog, some inevitably respond and it gives you another thought to think on! to maybe improve your life, even maybe spiritually!guess I could go on for awhile, but here are my immediate thoughts

Blogging is my way to process creative input. If I don't process it, it just disappears. Before blogging, I kept journals. I still do that too, but I enjoy processing some things in community.

I process outloud or on paper. As opposed to saying it all outloud, writing it down usually leads me to some conclusion usually by the end of the paragraph. Unlike the most of you on this website I am a "word dumper". I write it down to get it out, process and then move on.
